What Matters to Awaken Church!

For the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” –Ephesians 5:14

Awakening people to a life-changing relationship with Jesus, and equipping them to awaken others.

To be a diverse community of authentic love and hope, where you can belong as you change, and change as you follow Jesus.

What matters here:

-Jesus matters here. Jesus is the subject. We will not allow buildings, programs, maintenance, traditions, personal preferences, or anything else to become the subject.

-Christian Scripture matters here. Teaching and people-development will be solidly Biblically-based.

-Prayer matters here. Everything we do will be birthed out of, and bathed in, prayer.

-Unchurched people matter here. How we do what we do (our culture/style) will go through the lens of relevance to the lives of those who are not church-goers.

-People development matters here. We are all “in process.”  Small groups and one-on-one mentoring are how we continually develop as people. (The word most churches use for this is “discipleship.”)

-Serving our community matters here.   We seek to work hand-in-hand with all aspects of our community in order to make Natchitoches the best place to live and work.

-Church Multiplication matters here.  We will intentionally begin new churches and ministries in other areas.  We will be known as a “sending church.”

-University students matter here. We want to meet the needs of students at NSU as we have resources to do so.  Students will have real opportunities to give input on the direction the church takes.

-Children matter here. We will love, celebrate, and include our kids in the “main stream” life of the church. We will provide a safe space that our kids will be excited to be in and desire to come back to.  We are special needs friendly and welcome all children and their families.

It is every Christian's job to disciple others.
